Man suffers serious facial injury in Shirebrook fight

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fight in Shirebrook which left a man with a serious facial injury.

Two men got into a fight outside the Gate Inn pub on King Edward Street at around 10.20pm on Friday, and several other men then joined in.

A 29-year-old man from Langwith Junction suffered serious injuries to his face and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for treatment.

Detectives are still trying to trace some of the men involved in the fight and are appealing for witnesses.

• Cody Elliot, 19, of The Woodlands, Langwith, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is due before magistrates today (Tuesday).
