Man released on bail after National Tyres attack

A Leeds man arrested in connection with a robbery which left a Mansfield man with life-threatening injuries has been released on bail.

The man, who has not been named, was questioned throughout yesterday but was released on bail pending further enquiries, a Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, 24th June, at National Tyres, in Chesterfield Road South when a light-coloured BMW 4x4 vehicle belonging to employee Carl Denny was stolen.

Mr Denny suffered serious head injuries in the incident but has now been discharged from hospital, police said.

On Thursday (3rd July) William Doran (32) of Larwood Close, Bradford, appeared before Mansfield Magistrates’ Court charged with causing grievous bodily harm, robbery, dangerous driving and driving with no insurance.

He was remanded in custody until 17th July, when he is set to appear before Nottingham Crown Court.
