Magistrates were told Eaton had given a lift to a woman to the store, who had allegedly shoplifted DVDs.

The woman ran off leaving behind a bag in a trolly containing the stolen goods and all charges of theft made against Eaton were dropped.

But the court heard Eaton admitted driving to the location as his car was in the car park.

He said he had no idea he was over the limit having just had a couple of pints.
