Man arrested in connection with Sutton imitation fire arm incident

A 36-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in connection with possession of an imitation fire arm at an address in Sutton.

Police were called to the property on Davies Avenue on the town’s Carsic estate at around 6pm on Sunday because a man was refusing to leave his former partner’s house.

The man had a cigarette lighter in the shape of a fire arm and no-one else was in the house at the time.

Fire arms officers were deployed as a precaution while nearby roads were also closed for a short time.

But by 9pm, the man had fled the scene.

A search was launched and the man was later arrested and detained in custody on suspicion of possession of an imitation fire arm with intent to cause fear of violence.
