LETTER: Policeman from other county came to the rescue

As three or four people helped motorists out of the sheer madness caused by the Boxing Day snow, I retorted that there were never gritters or policemen around when you needed them.

It took a whole second to realise I’d put my foot in my mouth as the kind young man to my left who was not only pushing the vehicles but was organising things with what may have been his own family (females too) retorted back that he was from a different county but was actually one of the policemen we never see,

AND he didn’t say it with malice either.

Whoever he was at the top of Old Mill Lane in Mansfield at around 8.30 pm, I thank you again on behalf of all the others you helped so selflessly. Thank you!

Grateful
