A father-of-three who says he bought a BMX bike and scooter from a drug addict to give to his kids admitted handling stolen goods.
Lee Martin Brierly (29) of Walesby Drive, Kirkby, appeared before Mansfield magistrates where the court was told how the bike had been stolen during a burglary at Y Frame Discounts Ltd in Kirkby days before.
An email to the authorities tipped them off that Brierly had the bike and led them to his house.
He told police he bought the bike and scooter from a drug addict he knew, but did not name, for just £45 - which was way below their value.
The machine operator was given a 12-month community order, 40 hours unpaid work and made to pay £140 in costs and surcharges.
