Jury sworn in at fraud trial of UDM leaders Neil Greatrex and Mick Stevens

A JURY has been sworn in at the trial of two Mansfield union leaders accused of stealing almost £150,000 from a charity that ran a care home for sick and elderly miners.

Former Union of Democratic Mineworkers’ (UDM) president Neil Greatrex and Mick Stevens, ex-general secretary of the union in Nottinghamshire, both 60, are accused of 14 counts of theft between June 2000 and May 2006.

The jury of eight men and four women was sworn in at Nottingham Crown Court today (19th March).

Greatrex, of Shepherds Lane, Sutton, and Stevens, of Maylodge Drive, Rufford Park, Newark, deny all of the charges.
