Jia Ashton murder trial to begin in November

A MAN has denied murdering Somercotes woman Jia Ashton earlier this year.

David Simmonds (21), who is accused of killing the 25-year-old Thorntons worker in March, appeared via video link at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday.

Mrs Ashton, an economics graduate, was found dead in woodland close to the chocolate-maker’s Somercotes factory in March.

Simmonds, of Derby Road, Heanor, was further remanded in custody by Judge Michael Stokes until his trial to begin on 1st November.
