In information circulated to local residents by Nottinghamshire Police, it states: “Unfortunately the owner of the vehicle was run over by the offenders as they made good their escape.”

Colleagues at National Tyres this morning said that Mr Denny was ‘hopefully on the mend’ after being rushed to the intensive care unit at Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre.

His car was stolen in the incident and police are seeking to trace Mr Denny’s light-coloured BMW, registration DV06 VCW, which was driven off towards the town centre.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or saw the car as it left the car park to come forward.

It states that Mr Denny was: “Run over and left for dead.”

Mr Denny’s wife Alison declined to comment when she was contacted by Chad, but friends have left dozens of messages on social media wishing the couple well.
