Hit and run Rainworth/Blidworth crash appeal after cyclist left with life-threatening injuries

Police, who are urging witnesses to come forward after a vehicle failed to stop following a collision with a cyclist on Friday evening, have now revealed that they believe a dark metallic grey vehicle was involved

The crash happened at about 6pm in Blidworth Lane, between Blidworth and Rainworth.

The cyclist was taken to King’s Mill Hospital, where his injuries have been described as life-threatening.

Just before midnight on Friday, police said debris recovered from the site indicates part of the vehicle or trim is a dark metallic grey in colour. It also sustained damage to its front lights and bumper.

The vehicle is believed to have been travelling from the direction of Mansfield towards Blidworth when the incident took place.

Blidworth Lane, between Southwell Road East and Warsop Lane, has been closed in both directions.

Witnesses, or anyone with information about the vehicle involved in the collision, are asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police’s Crash Investigation team on 101 extension 800 2225 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
