Helicopter scrambled during gun alert in Warsop

A police helicopter was scrambled above Warsop after it was reported that an operation to arrest two suspected drug dealers may have involved firearms.

The chopper was spotted hovering above the town at around 8.30pm last night, Thursday, July 23.

Two men, who are thought to have been at an address in Warsop were stopped by police in their vehicle on High Street.

They were arrested on suspicion of supplying class B drugs, namely amphetamine.

However, a spokesman for the police said the helicopter was sent out after reports that a firearm had been spotted at the scene, but nothing was found.

A 25 year-old man and a 28-year-old man are currently in police custody.
