Four charged after burglary

FOUR people have been charged in connection with a burglary in Sutton last week.

Ben Sage (23), of Blake Crescent, Mansfield; Jamie-Lea Richert (21), of Burns Street, Mansfield; and a 16-year-old girl from the Mansfield area, appeared before Mansfield magistrates last Wednesday charged with aggravated burglary at an address in Penn Street.

Sage is also charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and Richert with assault and assault occasioning actually bodily harm.

The pair were remanded into custody pending Nottingham Crown Court appearances on 29th February. The 16-year-old was bailed. A fourth person was also arrested and charged with aggravated burglary yesterday. Kerry Batten (42), of Burns Street, Mansfield, appeared in court on Thursday and was also remanded into custody until 29th February.

Police were called to the house on Penn Street at around 2.30am on Tuesday following reports of an assault on two residents.

The suspects are then believed to have fled the scene in their victims’ Renault Megane, which was later recovered from the area by police.

A man taken to hospital following the attack is now recovering at home A woman, received minor injuries.

Police believe the incident was an isolated, targeted attack.
