A former university student who got hooked on heroin during his studies was ordered to pay £215 after admitting possession of the drug.
Matthew Edwin Gustard (33) of Easlin Farm, Upper Langwith, was stopped by police and admitted having two wraps of the drug in his underpants.
Defending at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court, Matthew Green, he said his client had fallen into a ‘bad crowd’ while at university in Nottingham 13 years ago and became addicted to the drug which led to him failing his degree in chemistry and IT.
Despite moving away from the area and beating his addiction, he had fallen back into it in recent years and moved home. He was fined £110, and made to pay £85 costs and a £20 surcharge.
