Police in Mansfield have launched an investigation after human remains were found in a Forest Town garden.
The remains of two people, who have yet to be formally identified, were unearthed by police in the back garden of a house in Blenheim Close, Forest Town, yesterday (Thursday 10th October 2013).
They are believed to have been there for some time.
A Home Office post-mortem examination to establish cause of death is due to take place today (Friday 11th October).
Detectives were led to the property after information came in to the force last week about an incident which is alleged to have taken place in the late 1990s.
A cordon is in place at the scene while forensic examinations continue.
