Figure skater described as a ‘monster’ by victim’s mother

The mother of a victim of sex abuse by shamed figure skater Jamie Whiteman, has broken her silence to label the 20-year-old predator a ‘monster’.

Paedophile Whiteman, who is originally from Huthwaite but now lives in Ravenshead, admitted multiple sex offences against girls at Hull Crown Court this week.

The court was told how Whiteman had groomed a string of girls over 20-month period in East Yorkshire, including repeatedly having sex with a 13-year-old.

The mother of one victim, who cannnot be named for legal reasons, spoke to Chad following Whiteman’s appearance in court this week.

She said: “You always know your children have to grow up but you hope it will part of a gradual process.

“Instead my daughter was exposed to a monster who manipulated her mind and stopped at nothing to satisfy his own warped addiction to underage girls.

“It has been an awful period of our lives and one I wish I could have shielded my daughter from, but we can now draw a line underneath it and move on knowing that he has finally admitted what he has done and will never be allowed back in the sport again to do this to any other unsuspecting victims.

“We are both a lot wiser and will not be as trusting in the future.”

Whiteman, who showed promise as a figure skater and competed in four national championships, is due to be sentenced on 27th July.
