A man who broke his curfew order 10 times has been shown leniency by magistrates, who simply extended the order by a further two weeks.

Electronically-tagged Scott Matthew Walker (39) of Leamington Hall Flats, Sutton, was given the original three-month order - in which he has to remain at home between 7pm and 7am each day - for causing criminal damage.

He appeared before Mansfield Magistrates’ Court where he admitted the breaches. In all but two of the 10 instances, he gave reasons including losing his keys and being in hospital for two days to be treated for deep vein thrombosis.

He was ordered to pay £75 costs.
