Police are warning vehicle owners to be extra vigilant following a spate of diesel thefts in the Mansfield area.
Since Friday 4th May fuel has been siphoned from at least nine vans and officers are linking all the incidents.
Inspector Mark Webster said: “All the vehicles were targeted solely for the diesel they contained.
“This spate of fuel thefts is a concern but is something that we are committed to tackling.
“Vehicles owners can also take a number of precautionary measures to help prevent them from becoming a victim.
“Consider fitting locked petrol caps, where possible park vehicles against a wall, making it more difficult to siphon diesel, and try not to leave work vans, or any other vehicles for that matter, unoccupied for several days with a full tank of fuel.”
Witnesses or anyone with information about the incidents are asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
