Computer scam warning
Residents are being warned about computer scams in which cold callers contact them offering to fix problems with their machines.
Reports have emerged of people in the region being contacted by a Leeds number - 0113 113 2840 - claiming to be from the ‘technical department’ and are hoping that the victim does actually has a problem with their computer.
On some occasions, the victim has relented and let the scammer onto their system, and charge £40 to their bank account.
Even people who are ex-directory have been targeted, so police are asking people to simply hang up.
