Angry residents in Huthwaite say they have had enough of anti-social behaviour, vandalism, drinking and drug-taking in parts of their village.

Now they are demanding action after a meeting with councillors and community protection officers at Ashfield District Council.

The residents say they are being plagued by a stream of problems at Huthwaite Welfare Park and Brierley Forest Park, off Main Street.

Over the past two months, they report a big increase in anti-social behaviour, which has included the visitors’ centre at Brierley Forest Park being vandalised and broken into more than once.

Two of the councillors for the area, Coun Lee Anderson and Coun Glenys Maxwell, have teamed up with the residents. Said Coun Anderson: “There is drunken and loutish behaviour on both parks. Just a few days ago, one of these idiots was seen shooting the ducks.

“People in Huthwaite and Brierley have had enough. This behaviour is causing misery throughout the community. I have written to the Chief Constable and we have met with community protection team leader Jodie Archer to discuss ways of working together to put a stop to this.”
