POLICE have revealed that a deceased man believed to be missing youngster John Stephen Porter has been found at Carr Vale ponds, in Bolsover, today, Wednesday, May 22.

The 21 year-old, of Springfield Crescent, Bolsover, had been reported missing from home for more than a week by police who had launched a search to establish his whereabouts.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesman said: “A body has been found in Carr Vale Ponds and we believe it to be John Stephen Porter who has been missing for just over a week.

“A formal identification has not yet taken place.

“There appears to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery and no third party is believed to have been involved. We are in touch with Mr Porter’s family.”

Mr Porter’s car had been found abandoned at Carr Vale ponds, on May 14, and his family issued a plea through the Derbyshire Times for any helpful information and for his safe return.

The body was discovered by police during routine patrols and was recovered from the ponds shortly after midday, today, Wednesday, May 22.
