Bolsover car damage was for revenge

A BOLSOVER man who vandalised a car claimed it was a revenge attack for damage to his home.

A witness saw a passenger get out of a car in New Bolsover on 15th February and smash the window of a Vauxhall Astra, Chesterfield magistrates were told.

“The driver was then seen to slash another tyre and the car drove away,” said prosecutor Helen Griffiths.

Edward Hodgkinson (33), of Main Street, admitted damage, but disputed the prosecution version. Sentence was adjourned until 13th August for a mini-trial to decide exactly what happened.

“He only accepts breaking the window and not damaging the tyre,” said Joe Harvey. “He had had some difficulties with the complainant.”
