A man held up a knife and threatened to stab himself if his girlfriend went to the police after he assaulted her, Mansfield Magistrates’ Court was told.
Damon Carl Robinson (21) of Paling Crescent, Sutton, admitted attacking her at home following an argument.
He had asked her to go to the shop and gave her £10, but she threw the cash on the floor.
Robinson then dragged to her to the floor by her hair to pick up the note, but when she tore it in half he kneed her in the chest, grabbed her by the collar and punched her.
He threatened to harm himself if she told police, so she left and went to her mother’s where the call was made.
He was given a 12-month community order and told to pay £145 in costs and charges.
