Accused killer is granted bail

A man who has been accused of manslaughter has been granted bail after his case was considered at Nottingham Crown Court.

Grzegorz Betleja, 28, of Nursery Avenue, Sutton-in-Ashfield, allegedly struck a colleague with a fatal punch following a day at work.

The court heard how Mr Betleja allegedly punched 39-year-old Jacek Golubek just after 5pm, on March 21. The defendant and deceased were Polish national, agency workers based at Wanzl, on Sawpit Lane industrial estate, Tibshelf.

Prosecuting solicitor Angela Hadfield claimed there had been a dispute and Mr Betleja allegedly punched Mr Golubek on a grass bank near the estate entrance. She added that Mr Golubek suffered a brain injury and was pronounced clinically dead on March 22. Betleja has not yet entered a plea. The case was adjourned until March 26 when Betleja was granted bail with conditions. His case was further adjourned until April 14.
