HOUSEHOLDERS are being urged to follow simple tips to help them make their paths and driveways safe during icy conditions.
Nottinghamshire County Council has issued the guidance following the heavy snow which blanketed the area last winter.
Among the tips council chiefs are issuing include folk not being put off from clearing footways for fear of being sued if someone slips and making sure they clear snow or ice early in the day when it is fresh.
They also say residents should use their own salt or sand. Grit from council bins are for public footways and roads only.
