Council pulls out of group partnership

A PARTNERSHIP set up to improve the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the Ashfield district is to dissolve because of a lack of funding.

Ashfield District Council’s cabinet agreed the council would withdraw from the Ashfield Partnership at its meeting on Wednesday night because of Nottinghamshire County Council cuts.

It was set up in 1999 and included representatives from local businesses, Nottinghamshire County Council, Ashfield District Council, police and other local agencies.

The move will make the partnership manager post redundant, but another temporary role will be created.

The partnership will be formally dissolved at an extra-ordinary meeting of the council on 30th March.
