Ashfield District Council’s Chairman is calling for support for two deserving charities this year – The Cinnamon Trust (a charity that cares for pets when their elderly or terminally ill owners are unable to so) and the Royal British Legion.

A winter raffle has been launched to raise funds for the causes which have been nominated by coun Elizabeth Mays.

Chairman coun Elizabeth Mays said: “I really hope that people get involved in helping these very two worthy charities that are close to my heart. We have some fantastic prizes to be won and so I urge people to support us by buying some tickets for a great cause.”

Prizes include a six person hospitality ticket to watch Nottingham Forest play Sheffield Wednesday with two course meal, pair of Nottingham Forest tickets, pair of Mansfield Town tickets, £50 Argos voucher, champagne, large food hamper, wine and many more.

Tickets are on sale now priced at 50p and can be bought by calling 01623 457002 or calling in to the Council offices in Kirkby-in-Ashfield and asking for Amanda Clifton.

The Chairman and Councillors will also be out in local supermarkets selling the tickets.

The draw will take place on 17 December 2014 and winners will be contacted soon after.
