Budding baristas and coffee connoisseurs will get the opportunity to be part of a new cafe culture that is set for Sutton.
Costa Coffee opened its doors at the weekend and brought with it 10 job opportunities.
Coun Jim Aspinall, portfolio holder for regeneration in Ashfied, visited the shop and met the company’s marketing manager Anne Cockayne and staff.
He said: “I was delighted to meet up with company and staff and formally welcome, on behalf of Ashfield District Council the shop to Sutton.
“I was also very pleased with the positive response from the customers I spoke to.
“The customers and the council appreciate the efforts the company have gone to, to maintain the fabric of the building, which carries many memories for many people in Sutton.”
Ashfield’s regeneration department has been putting together plans, many of which have been picked up from residents and other interested parties, to regenerate Sutton town centre.
He added: “We are looking to create a ‘cafe culture’ at the top end of the town and Costa Coffee fit perfectly into that objective.
“We consider the arrival of companies like Costa Coffee are an integral part of plans to regenerate the area.
“I would like to wish Costa Coffee every success with this venture and hope they can be the catalyst to attract other outlets to Sutton.”
