St Katherine’s Church

Saturday week’s coffee morning at the Scout Hut raised £376 for church funds. Associate Priest, the Rev Adrian Dempster, celebrated Sunday week’s Holy Communion. The Vicar, Canon Dr Richard Kellett, gave a talk called Looking Forward. Organist John Dunn led intercessions. Maureen Dempster and church stewards Averil Higginson and Jean Hickman gave Bible readings.

Women’s Institute

President Nancy Millward welcomed members to the branch’s Christmas party at the Scout Hut. Diane Farmiloe, Enid Oscroft, Mary and Philip Hardstaff, Nancy Millward and Norma Adkins prepared the room and the birthday table. Margaret Crafts, Mary Hardstaff, Ann Holding and Gwyneth Lamb celebrated birthdays and members provided food. Entertainment was by Ashlanders, who sang Christmas, 1950s and 1960s songs. Diane Farmiloe gave a vote of thanks.
