St Andrew’s Church
The Vicar, Canon Dr Richard Kellett, celebrated Sunday week’s early said and sung parish Holy Communions. Graham Clarke assisted at the later service and organist John Dunn also led intercessions. Sue Mountain gave a Bible reading and Pam Clarke and Jennie Sharpe were in the ministry team. Stewards were Marilyn Turner and Joyce Carter. Christopher Riley, Joyce Whetton and Karen Bradshaw served refreshments.
Busy Bees Buggy Club: Seven pre-school children, accompanied by adults, attended Thursday week’s meeting at Anchor Centre. Activities included chalking, play with a train set, a tunnel and a trampoline, and singing.
Methodist Church and Anchor Centre
Arnie Kells led Sunday week’s service. Door stewards were Margery Pierpoint and Di Smith and vestry stewards Brenda and Trevor Johnson took the offertory with junior church members. Doris Taylor manned the sound mixer desk and gave a PowerPoint presentation. Di Smith operated the clavinova and Len Jones gave a Bible reading. Kathleen Bramwell led praise and intercessions and closed the service. Anne and John Baines led junior church. Daphne Thorpe and Margaret Rutledge served refreshments.
Beechwood Court 50 Plus Club
Chairman Mr Norman Broadbelt welcomed 37 members and was bingo caller at Thursday week’s meeting. Mrs M. Hoyland and Mrs S. Clarke served teas and Messrs T. Rowe, J. Clarke, R. Birkin and A. Key did kitchen duties. Ticket sellers were Mrs J. Bower, Mrs M. Marchant and Mr Birkin. Members played a number-theme game and raffle winner was Mrs M. Gwynn. Mesdames Gwynn, Hoyland and Marchant assisted with bingo.
Monday Club
Chairman Mr David Franks welcomed 33 members to Monday week’s meeting at Healdswood Community Centre. Raffle winner was Mrs M. Shore. Bingo callers Mr J. Clarke and Mrs M. Wallace were assisted by Mrs M. Gwynn and Mrs M. Hoyland. Ticket sellers were Mr Franks and Mrs P. Patton. Mr W. Parr provided an afternoon tea and committee members did kitchen duties. Wedding anniversary wishes were given to Mr and Mrs Clarke.
Skegby Brownies: At Monday week’s meeting at Quarrydale School, Sutton, members planned future activities and played games. Leaders were Catherine Willis and Anne Bagley.
