Over 50s Club

On Tuesday week at the Rainworth Miners’ Welfare with Mr R. Lewis welcomed 107 members. Mr C. Dodsworth was MC for dancing and spot waltz winners were Mr and Mrs R. Murphy. Competition winner was Mrs J Higgins and the weekly raffle was held with the prizes donated by the club (3), and Mesdames Murphy, Wood, Cooper, Straw, Dodsworth, Biggs, Cordin. Blanc, Evans, Prior, Creasey, Smart, Simpson, Deboar, Purdey, Baxter, Vardy, Buchanon, Millward, and Edmondson

4th Rainbows

Rainbows talked to Olivia the rainbow doll about the best things they could recall from their holidays. They made a good luck card for Athene who is going to university and a get well card for Grey Rabbit.

Brownies

On Friday Brownies talked about their summer holidays and did some challenges for their Road Safety badge. They made plans for a walk round the L lake next week.

St George’s RC Church

Mass on Sunday week was led by Father Christopher Thomas with Andrew and Peter Frettingham assisting at the altar. Jake Winterton and Andrew and Mark Frettingham gave readings during the service and Offertory bearers were Caitlin Tideswell, Malachi Fagan, Jackie and Colin Massey, Cyril Murphy, John Higgins and Mark Frettingham. Eucharistic Ministers were Cyril Murphy, Angela Storey and Margaret Bonsall.

Methodist Church

Saturday night saw a full house for the Church Anniversary concert. The morning service on Sunday was led Peter Relf with readings from Judith Daykin. Flowers donated by Jean Grant decorated the church and Christine Daniele was welcome steward. The Rev David Greenwood led the evening section service which included readings from Myrna Bretton and Pat Holmes. .

St Simon and Jude’s

Monthly Holy Communion was held on Monday evening and ‘Morning Prayer’ services were held on Tuesday and Thursday. Holy Communion on Sunday morning saw John Robinson give the sermon and Gordon Foster play the organ. Readers were Stephanie Smart and Sandy Wilson with Stuart Brown leading prayers.
