Youth Club

The next meeting will be on Wednesday 26th March in the Cator Hall. The group held a youth club quiz night which raised £351 to buy a new game for the Wii and pay for future trips and activities.

St Andrew’s Church

Holy Communion service Sunday week was led by the Rev Richard Seymour-Whiteley, who preached and led prayers. Readings were by Michael Beaumont and Sue Wilson. Organist was John White. Refreshments were served afterwards by Sue Wilson and Malcolm Goodall.

Race Results for February saw Jeanette Carson run 1:29 atTatton Park; Amy West 48:54 at the 10k Rushcliffe; Johanna Mather 2:25 at the Silverstone half marathon. At the 13-mile Caythorpe Dash, Cathie Babbington 2:53, Samantha Straw 2:53, Jenny Wallis 2:53, and Paula Brown 2:01. At the Mansfield Woodhouse 5k Park Run, there personal bests for Kirsty Cooke 27:51, Sally Woodhead 27:30, Amy West 23:16. This month’s midweek running covered 11-plus miles by Sally Woodhead, Cathie Babbington, Jenny Wallis and Samantha Straw, nine-plusmiles Kaylan Smith, Debbie Rose and Amy West; Seven-plus miles by Bernie Chillman and Jane Blag; five-plus miles by Kirsty Cooke, Tina Clarke, Emma Barnaby, Johanna Mather, Claire Smith, Hannah Tunnicliffe, Helen Hamilton, Donna Thackerey, Katherine Derham, Kayla Devonport and Georgina Cox; three-plus miles by Julia Smith, Jo Munks, Caroline Bass, Lisa Adlington, Fran Sisson, Frankie Cook and Emma Brown.

Kirsty Cooke introduced Indian Files into class sessions and Cathie Babbington kept the speed sessions active on Thursdays throughout the month. Mell Sims was welcomed back after a long injury,

Burton Court Centre

Chairman Sandra Morton welcomed 12 members to Tuesday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Ann Hutchinson and Sheila Hall. Twenty-one members were welcomed to Thursday week’s meeting. Raffle winner was Ann Hutchinson. Refreshments were served by committee members and helpers. Bingo callers for both sessions were Sandra Morton and Ann Hutchinson.

Short Mat Bowls

Eight members attended the session held on Thursday week in the Village Hall. Danny won the raffle prize.

Social Whist Drive

Six members attended the session held on Wednesday week at Burton Court Centre. Raffle winner was Ken Corkish. Whist winners included Ken Corkish DEavid Ramsdale Celia Smith and Ann Hutchinson.

Over 50s Club

Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed 55 members to Wednesday week’s meeting in the Welfare. MC was Denis Teather and bingo caller was David Ramsdale. Members joined in a horse racing theme game arranged by Marion Sentence, Katie Towle and Becky Kemp. A general knowledge quiz arranged by Bill Lamb was won by Ken Heath. Winners of the chocolate dance were Graham and Ruth Vardy. Refreshments were served by Connie Roberts and Marion Towle. Twenty-five raffle prizes were won by Connie Roberts, Gillian Hattersley, Jean Jarvis, Marion Towle, Powell, Mary Bradley, Rita Dodsworth, John Booth, Hazel Bryan, Kathleen Booth, John Cordon, Sheryl Bird, Carol Bird, Heather Fell and Marni Shah.

St Margaret’s Church

Holy Communion Service on Sunday week was led by the Rev Margaret Groves, who preached and led prayers. Readers were Katrina Leach and Jacqueline Brown. Elements were taken up to the Altar by Katrina Leach and Jenny Elston, who also helped with distribution. The offertory was taken by Jacqueline Brown. Sunday school activities were supervised by Karon Bonser. Church warden Jenny Elston was congratulated on her award for her services given to motor neurone disease patients. Refreshments were served afterwards. Organist was Derek Reaney.
