St Andrew’s Church

Morning Prayer on Sunday week was led by Lay Reader Heather Brown, who preached and led prayers. Readings were by Margaret Coupland and Pat Peach, Organist was John White. Refreshments were served afterwards by Sue Wilson and Malcolm Goodall.

Bilsthorpe

Garden Club

Members of the club enjoyed a New Year dinner and social evening organised and arranged by Steve Smart at the Copper Beech on Wednesday 15th January. Alan and Jill Ashley devised a quiz to test the local knowledge and also arranged a special raffle. Joint winners were Monica Powell and Suzanne Cooling. First raffle prize winner was Jean Robinson. Thanks was given to all the staff at the Copper Beech and to all concerned for a very successful evening. The next meeting will be on Wednesday 19th February in the Lounge at the Welfare at 7.30pm. The talk will be about bees. Vvisitors welcome.

Green Centre

Chairman David Ramsdasle welcomed members to Tuesday week’s meeting, Raffle winners were Mary Hughes and Meg Spencer. Twenty members were welcomed to Friday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Maureen Abbott and Madge Walker. Refreshments were served by committee members David Ramsdasle asnd Celia Smith. Bingo caller for both sessions was Celia Smith.

Burton Court Centre

Chairman Sandra Morton welcomed 14 members to Tuesday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Beryl Taylor and Brenda. Wilderspin. Twenty members were welcomed to Thursday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Sheila Hall and Joan Wall. Refreshments were served by committee members and helpers. Bingo call for both sessions was Celia Smith.

Over 50s Club

Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed 50 members to Wednesday week’s meeting at the welfare. Dance MC was John Cordon and bingo caller, David Ramsdale. Members joined in a horse racing-themed game arranged by Marion Sentence, A general knowledge quiz arranged by Bill Lamb was won by Margaret Heath. Chocolate dance winners were Ken and Margaret Heath. Refreshments were served by Marion Sentence. Twenty-two raffle prizes were won by Agnes Heron, Jan Jones, Brenda Wilderspin, Fred Brown, Jill Olley, Connie Roberts, Christine Benn, Monica Powell, Rex Powell, Denis Teather, Katie Towle, Brenda Creasey, Les Bunting, Margaret Lamb, Sheryl Bird, Jean Jarvis,Marion Sentence and Mo Bowles.

St Margaret’s Church

Family Communion Sunday week was led by the Vicar Rev’d Richard Seymour-Whiteley who preached and led prayers. Hospitality greeter was Jacqueline Brown. Reader was Jacqueline Brown and Elaine Smith read the gospel. Jenny Elston did intercessions and served at the altar. Elements were taken up to the Altar by Bill and Geraldine Luke, and Jacqueline Brown took the offertory. Childrens activities were supervised by Sandra Burrows the theme was Samuel. Chloe Clark and Holly Stokoe read the childrens prayer. Refreshments were served afterwards by Sandra Burrows and John Olley.
