Women’s Institute

President Heather Brown welcomed members and three new ones. Speaker Jane Townsend gave a talk on epitaphs on grave stones. A vote of thanks was by Jean Manning. The monthly competition winner write your own epitaph was won by Angela Holding Correspondence was read by Brenda Millward and minutes by Pat Endean-Rowe.

Oakring Club

Chairperson Mary Stokes welcomed members Tuesday week in the Cator Hall. Bingo callers were Mary Stokes and Edna Wright. Refreshments were served by Janet Cobb.

St Andrew’s Church

Worship for All service Sunday week was led by Lay reader Heather Brown, who preached and led the prayers. Readings were by Nigel Spraggins and Tracey Lowe. Members of the Newark Caledonian Society joined to celebrate St Andrew’s Day. The first candle on the Advent wreath was lit by Verity Lowe and Imogen McCool. Organist was John White and refreshments were served by Sue Wilson.

Gardening Club

At the AGM the officers re-elected were: Chairman /Secretary - Robert Brown. Secretary - Jenny Bailey, The committee remains the same. Speaker Sue Hayward gave a excellent talk and slide show on garden design.
