Women’s Institute

President Heather Brown welcomed members. Members sang Jerusalem. Speaker Peter Davis was introduced and gave a talk on Hallowe’en, Christmas and seasons stories. A vote of thanks was given by Jenny Bailey. Correspondence was read by Brenda Milward and minutes by Patricia Endean-Rowe. Raffle winners were Pam Alcock and Marie Worley. Winner of the monthly competition for something red was Brenda Milward.

Oakring Club

Chairman Mary Stokes welcomed members to Tuesday week’s meeting in the Cator Hall. Bingo was played callers were Mary Stokes and Edna Wright. Refreshments were served by hostess Janet Cobb.

Wigs and Gigs

Charity night, theme vicars and tarts was organised and arranged by Mrs Kaysi Shaw. The event took place in the Cator Hall. Fifteen raffle prizes were won some donated by the National Grid, Eakring Farms, Blackwells and Complete Archery. Groups playing for free were Mistabeat, Savile Show Stoppers, US and Steve McGill acoustics. Prizes were given for the fancy dress. Monies raised were for the John Eastwood Hospice in memory of Jane Morris, and the QMC. Teenage cancer trust . £3000 was raised.

Notts Half Marathon

Robert and Heather Brown and Janet Lambert raised £600 so far for Parkinson’s Research . Thanks to everyone who supported them. Linda Goldby also thanks everyone who sponsored her. £650 has been received for the Karen Green Foundation Leukemia Research Fund.

St Andrew’s Church

Morning Praise service Sunday week was led by Lay Reader Heather Brown who preached. Prayers were by Tracey Lowe. Readers were Malcolm Goodall and Sue Wilson. Organist was John White. Refreshments were served afterwards by Sue Wilson and Malcolm Goodall.
