Meadow and New Road
On Monday week the meeting was opened by Mrs M. Brailsford. Mrs B Creasey, Mrs M. Wood and Mrs J. Pitt served the members with refreshments. Tickets were sold by Mrs J. Dodsworth and she also called the bingo. A quiz was organised and called Mrs M. Cooper and the winner was Mrs J. Dodsworth. A quiz was organised and called Mrs M. Cooper and the winner was Mrs J. Dodsworth. Bingo winners were Mesdames J. Pitt, M. Cooper, J. Dodsworth, M. Gladwin, M. Buchanon, B. Creasey, S. Layland, and Messrs E. Buchanon, E. Ufton and K. Cooper. Raffle winners were Mesdames M. Simpson, M. Richards, P. Hutton, F. Meakin, E. Turton, and Messrs A. Musson and E. Ufton. Members celebrated the birthdays of Mrs M. Richards and Mrs B. Creasey.
St Andrew’s Church
Morning Prayer took place on Monday and Wednesday. On Wednesday Vestry hour was led by Angela Penny. Tuesday bingo with Stephen took place.
St Mary’s Church
The morning service was led by the Rev Hazel Robinson. There were readings from the Old Testament from Mary Harris with Stephen Fox reading from the New Testament. Assisting was Stephanie Smart who read from the Gospel and the Rev Clare Tyack gave the sermon. The Rev Robinson led prayers. At the Blidworth war memorial the Rev Hazel Robinson led the Remembrance service with the Rev Clare Tyack.
Saturday’s build a breakfast was well supported. On Sunday morning the service was led by Robert Fennell and included readings from Bill Richards and Irene Yapp. Sunday school was led by Patricia Stewart and Rebeccah Widowson and music played by Vanessa Crane. On Sunday evening there was a discussion group led by the Rev Bob Jones.
A four and half mile walk from the Dog & Duck at Old Clipstone to Vicar Water, attracted 23 walkers, coffee was enjoyed at The Rumbles catering project. At their November meeting members welcomed the ‘Countess Dowager of Shrewsbur’, aka Judy Williams in full costume and she told the animated story of ‘her’ life as the Countess Dowager and ‘Bess’ of Hardwick. Chairman John Smallwood and member Yvonne Neville told members that funding had been secured from Nottinghamshire County Council to prepare a condition report and suggestions for the future conservation of Blidworth Windmill. Alan Higgins told the story of the 100 year boundary conflict between Blidworth and Farnsfield in the 17th and 18th centuries.
