Ladies Running Club

At the Edwinstowe 10k Paula Brown returned a PB of 49 mins, Debbie Rose and Cathie Babbington also PB 1:00 followed closely by Sam Straw 1:07, Hanna Ward and Emma Brown with PB 1:10. Belinda Hirsh ran her first pregnancy race followed by Julie Fernandes, Sue Brown and Sarah Hubbart, who all did under 1:15, PBs. The next race is the Caythorpe Dash half marathon on 10th February.

Scouts

Members enjoyed a games night Monday week, planned by senior leader and patrol leaders. Scout leaders Brian Foster, Graham Baguley and Emma Tyson supervised.

Beavers

Leader Graham Baguley was in charge of the meeting held Tuesday week. A games night was planned by young leaders,. Helpers were Emma Tyson, Marian Mawer, Sue Baguley and Lisa Jest.

Cubs

Group Scout leader Diane Johnson was in charge of Tuesday week’s meeting. Members finished work on home safety badge, then wrote and said prayers, finishing with games. Helpers were assistant leader Sharon Page and parent helpers.

Heritage Society

The coffee morning in the Village Hall raised £705, thanks to all helpers who baked cakes, manned stalls and donated prizes and to Celia Smith and Ann Rose for tea and coffee.

Burton Court Centre

Chairman Sandra Morton welcomed 17 members to Tuesday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Cynthia Reade and Beryl Taylor. Twenty-four members attended Thursday week. Raffle winners were Lil Cotterill and Joan Wall. Bingo callers were Sandra Morton and Ann Hutchison.

Over 50s Club

Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed 51 members to Wednesday week’s meeting at the Welfare. Dance MC was John Corden and bingo caller was Jack Staton. Members joined in a horse racing theme game arranged by Joe Lowde, Katie Towle and Becky Kemp. A quiz arranged by Bill Lamb was won by Eddie Clipston. Winners of the chocolate dance were Denis and Ivy Teather. Refreshments were served by Marion Sentence. Raffle winners were David Ramsdale, Connie Roberts, Jacqueline Brown, Mo Bowles, Sheryl Bird, Marion Towle, Rayna Clipston, Sue Ball, Marion Sentence, Barbara Marson, Ruth Vardy, Jean Corkish and Fred Brown. Member Ivy Wells celebrated her 98 th birthday along with Connie Roberts who was celebrating her birthday. Members Bryan and Connie Charlesworth provided profiteroles.

Green Centre

Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed members to Tuesday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Barbara Smith and Robert Rowe. Bingo caller was Celia Smith. Sheila Hall and Robert Rowe were raffle winners at Friday week’s meeting. Tea and redreshments were served by committee members and helpers David Ramsdale, Celia Smith, Maureen Abbott, Irene Westerman and Jean Corkish. Bingo caller was Celia Smith.

Social Whist Drive

Seven members attended Wednesday week’s meeting at Burton Court Centre. Raffle winners were Margaret Mudd and Ann Hutchison. Whist winners included Laurie Mudd, Ann Hutchison, Celia Smith and Margaret Mudd.

St Margaret’s Church

All age Worship Sunday week was led by Lay reader Heather Brown who preached led prayers and did intercessions. Readers were Jenny Elston and Elaine Smith. The lighting of the candle on the advent wreath was by Reave and Alessia Barnard Pasqualone . Hospitality greeters were Jacqueline Brown and Jenny Elston. The offertory was taken by Sienna Stokoe and Sandra Burrows who served refreshments.
