Green Centre

Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed 22 members to Tuesday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Robert Rowe and Celia Smith. Bingo caller was Celia Smith. Twenty-two members attended Friday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Joan West and Sheila Hall. Refreshments were served by committee members and helpers David Ramsdale, Celia Smith, Maureen Abbott, Irene Westerman and Jean Corkish. Bingo caller was Celia Smith.

Social Whist Drive

Six members and friends attended Wednesday week’s meeting at Burton Court Centre. Raffle winners were Laurie Mudd and Jean Corkish. Whist winners included Laurie Mudd, Ken Corkish, Celia Smith and Margaret Mudd.

Ladies Running Club

Monday week’s meeting took three mixed groups from beginners to experienced runners through various village routs, covering from 2km to 5km. Thursday week’s running club was coached by leader Cathie Babbington and took the fast group round the Rainworth Bypass covering four miles with Sam Straw, Debbie Rose, Helen Hamilton, Kirsty Cooke, Hanna Ward and Emma Brown, in very bracing winds and extremely heavy rain. Jenny Wallis took the newest member Kayla on a village route covering 2.5miles and Kaylan Smith covered one mile. Claire Smith and Louise Benson completed a village route, Lorraine Hall-Smith completed a single village route earlier in the day 2.77miles. Sunday week’s session consisted of Sam Straw and Marie Gilbert covering 5.5miles, Debbie Rose and Paula Brown covering 10km and Cathie Babbington 11 miles, through Cutts Wood and Sherwood Pines, Emma Brown persisted with the terrible conditions on the Trail and covered five miles whilst Jenny Wallis and Kaylan Smith covered 10 miles of biking.

Over 50s Club

Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed 60 members to Wednesday week’s meeting at the Welfare. Dance MC was Dennis Knight and bingo caller was Jack Staton. Members joined in a horse racing theme game arranged by Joe Lowde, Katie Towle and Becky Kemp. A quiz arranged by Bill Lamb was won by Connie Charlesworth. Winners of the chocolate dance were John and Sheila Cordon. Refreshments were served by Connie Roberts. Raffle winners were Brenda Wilderspin, Wilson Bryan, Connie Roberts, Marion Sentence, David Ramsdale, Pat Curry, Jacqueline Brown, Sheila Cordon, Shirley Moody, Agnes Heron, Margaret Lamb, Connie Charlesworth, Eileen Baxter, Marion Towle, Jean Higgins, Sheila Cottrill, Rita Dodsworth, Jill Olley, Jan Jones, Alan Higgins and Jenny DeBoer.

Chairman Sandra Morton welcomed 19 members to Tuesday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Rene Vickers and Agnes Heron. Eighteen members attended Thursday weeks meeting. Raffle winner was Joan Wall. Refreshments were served by committee members and helpers. Sandra Morton called bingo numbers Tuesday and Thursday.

St Margaret’s Church

Morning Praise service was led by Lay reader Heather Brown who did the Collect and preached. Readers were Paula Pestell and Iolen Harding. Hospitality greeter was Paula Pestell who also did the music. Intercessions were read by Nan Devonport and Jenny Elston took the offertory. Refreshments were served afterwards by Sandra Burrows, Marion Towle Lois Markland and Olivia Bamford. Bilsthorpe
