Community News - Bilsthorpe

Burton Court Centre

Chairman Sandra Morton welcomed 22 members to Tuesday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Phyllis Salmon, Freda Smith, Celia Smith and Barbara Small. Bingo caller was Sandra Morton.

Social Whist Drive

Six members and friends attended Wednesday week’s meeting in Burton Court Centre. Whist winners were Robert Rowe, Ken Corkish, Celia Smith and Jean Corkish.

Green Centre

Twenty five members were welcomed to Tuesday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Peggy Coupland and Evelyn Dunn. Bingo caller was Celia Smith. Twenty-four members attended Friday week’s meeting, raffle winner was Lil Cotterill. Refreshments were served by committee members and helpers, Celia Smith, Maureen Abbott, Jean Corkish and Irene Westerman.

Over 50s Club

Vice-chairman Marion Towle welcomed 44 members o Wednesday week at the Welfare. Dance MC was John Corden and bingo caller was Connie Roberts. A quiz by Bill Lamb was won by Connie Charlesworth. Winners of the chocolate dance were Terry and Jenny DeBoer. Refreshments were served by Jean Corkish and Marion Sentence. Raffle winners were Mary Bradley, Fred Brown, Sheila Corden, Margaret Lamb, Jean Jarvis, Marion Towle, Graham Jarvis, Brenda Wilderspin, Jacqueline Brown, Margaret Coupland, Jean Corkish, Barbara Hurt, Rayna Clipston, Sheila Cotterill, Marion Sentence, Doug Clark, Ken Corkish, Rita Dodsworth, Connie Charlesworth, Melvyn Bradley.

A celebration cream tea served by committee members was held recently at the Over 50s Club provided by Fred Brown and Barbara Hurt who were both celebrating a birthday.

ST MARGARET’S Church: Holy Communion service Sunday week was led by the Vicar Rev’d Richard Seymour-Whiteley who preached and led prayers. Reader was Jenny Elston and Katrina Leach read the gospel. Intercessions were read by Jacqueline Brown. Elements were taken up to the Altar by Katrina Leach and Sarah Wood. And Jenny Elston took the offertory. Hospitality greeters were Katrina Leach, Jacqueline Brown and Jenny Elston. Refreshments were served afterwards by Sandra Burrows. Organist was Derek Reaney.
