Ladies Running Club
Cathie Babbington lead Monday week’s session with a cross-ountry run around the village lakes with Sarah Hubbard, Sam Straw, Fiona Knowles, Kaylan Smith, Jenny Wallis, Debbie Rose, Julie Fernandes, Sue Brown, Hannah Ward and the newest member Alison Evans. A fast run covering eight miles took place Thursday week through Cutts Wood to Rufford Park, led by Cathie Babbington with Kaylan Smith, Paula Brown and Belinda Hirsh. Sunday’s session took Kaylan Smith, Belinda Hirsh, Cathie Babbington, Sam Straw and Jenny Wallis to Kirklington.
Green Centre
Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed 30 members to Tuesday week’s meeting. Raffle winner was Jean Moran Bingo caller was David Ramsdale. Friday week’s raffle winners were Brenda Wilderspin and Maureen Abbott. Refreshments were served by committee members and helpers, David Ramsdale, Celia Smith, Maureen Abbott, Jean Corkish and Irene Westerman.
Social Whist Drive
Eight members and friends attended Wednesday week at Burton Court Centre. Raffle winners were Ken Corkish and Ann Hutchinson. Whist winners included Laurie Mudd, Ken Corkish, Jean Corkish and Ann Hutchison.
Burton Court Centre
Chairman Sandra Morton welcomed 21 members Tuesday week. Raffle winners were Sandra Morton, Beryl Taylor and Kath Taylor. Bingo caller was Sandra Morton.
Over 50s Club
Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed 48 members to the Welfare. MC was Denis Teather and bingo caller was David Ramsdale. Winners of the chocolate dance were Fred and Jacqueline Brown. Refreshments were served by Marion Sentence, Jacqueline Brown and Barbara Hurt. Raffle winners included Doug Clark, Pat Curry, Tom Blackburn, Margaret Heath, Gillian Hattersley, Denis Teather, Ruth Vardy, Connie Charlesworth, Ken Corkish, Rex Powell, Margaret Coupland, Connie Charlesworth, Rita Dodsworth, Mary Bradley, Janet Knight, Joe Lowde, George Heron, Dennis Knight, Kate Clayton, Jean Corkish and Jan Jones.
ST Margaret’s Church
Morning Praise service was led by lay reader Heather Brown who preached and led intercessions. The epistle was red by Paula Pestell and the gospel by Will Abbott. Hospitality greeter was Paula Pestell who also took the collection. Evening Holy Communion service was led by the Vicar Rev’d Richard Seymour-Whiteley who also preached. Reader of the epistle was Jenny Elston and Will Abbott read the gospel. Organist for both services was Derek Reaney.
