Annesley

All Saints Church

On Tuesday afternoon Open Door members met. On Wednesday afternoon the church was open for visitors. On Thursday evening wedding bookings was held in Church. On Friday afternoon So’n’Sew members met. On Saturday afternoon an Open House held at the Vicarage. Sunday morning Holy Communion was led by Diane Smeed, crucifer was Barbara Harvey, lesson readers were June Freeman and Diane Smeed, sacraments and sidespeople were Wendy Stocks and Rosemary Shatliffe. The Rev Kevin Charles officiated at communion, the chalice was administered by Sue Charles and Diane Smeed, organist was Chris Lawry, refreshments were served by Betty Runacus and Trevor Denman.

St John’s

Funds raised at Saturday’s coffee morning were for church funds. Sunday evening Songs of Praise was led by the Rev Liz Turner-Loisel, during the service Demi Beasley, Monie Newton and Ryan Nuttall were baptised. The Rev Kevin Charles gave a reading, the music group accompanied songs and the collection taken by Philippe Turner-Loisel.

Forest Road Church

The Movement to Music followed the ‘Time for Prayer’ on Thursday. Sunday morning worship was a combined service at The Hill Methodist Church. The evening service was led by Mr Brian Cupples. Steward was Ann Graham, door steward was Harold Johnson and organist was Doreen Dickens.

St John’s Church

Sunday morning Holy Communion was led by the Rev Mary Essex. Sidespeople were Joyce and Don Brown. The readers were Elaine Moulton and Mike Lowe. The Gospel reading was given by Mary Andrews who also delivered the sermon and prayers of intercession. Organist was Hazel Warren. Cake and coffee was served after the service by Daphne Cantrill to celebrate her birthday. Guery has gained her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. The evening service was led by Elaine Moulton, readers were Daphne Cantrill and Paul Bradbury. The sermon and prayers were given by Elaine Moulton.

Methodist Church

On Saturday week Caroline Nash, Kathleen Bramwell, Margaret Horner, Josie Kemp and Sheila Clarke provided refreshments at a family fun day. John and Anne Baines, Roy Horner, Trevor Hollingsworth, Claire and Alicia Gilder and Donna Jones supervised games. Representatives of Tap Youth Project and Joan Hollingsworth, June and Marie Godber, Rita Kirkwood and Jackie Pegg ran craft activities. Joyce Holloway and Margaret Jones ran a cake stall and Irene Shaw and Sandra Burton, a tombola. Maureen and Derek Megainey manned a bric-a-brac stall. The Minister, the Rev Alan Boyd, conducted Sunday week’s service and celebrated Holy Communion. Di Smith was confirmed as a member. Door stewards were Margaret Jones and Sheila Clarke. Vestry stewards Len Jones and Kathleen Bramwell took the offertory. Eileen Lawrence gave a PowerPoint presentation and Doris Taylor manned the sound mixer desk. Denise Matters played the clavinova. Worship leader Brenda Goldsmith opened the service and said the offertory prayer. Jean Hutson gave a Bible reading and communion stewards were Mary Hemsley and Margery Pierpoint. Anne and John Baines led junior church. Noreen Kells and Sandra Burton assisted by Sheila Clarke served refreshments.

Royal British Legion

Women’s section members organised an outing for about 40 people to Skegness. There was bingo and a raffle on the bus.

St Andrew’s Church

Associate Priest, the Rev Adrian Dempster, celebrated Sunday week’s early said Holy Communion and later Holy Communion. Reader Graham Clarke assisted at the later service and organist was John Dunn. Sue Mountain, Jane Crafts and Katie Smith gave Bible readings. Sharon Hallam led prayers and Jennie Sharpe and Pam Clarke were in the ministry team. Stewards were Joy Riley and Danny Thompson. Gill Smith, Sue Duckmanton and Sharon Hallam served refreshments.

G Force Line Dancing

Gaye Teather taught a country two-step at yesterday week’s meeting at Anchor Centre.

Beechwood Court 50 Plus Club: Chairman Mr Norman Broadbelt welcomed 40 members and was bingo caller at Thursday week’s meeting. Mrs S. Key and Mrs M. Hoyland served teas and Messrs T. Rowe, A. Key, J. Clarke and R. Birkin did kitchen duties. Mr Birkin and Mrs M. Marchant sold tickets, with Mrs J. Boyer, and assisted with bingo, with Mrs M. Gwynn. Mrs C. Woodward was raffle winner and Mr T. Rowe provided refreshments. Mr and Mrs Clarke, Mr Birkin and Mrs M. Hayes were quiz winners.

All Saints’ Church

Reader Eleanor Greaves led Sunday week’s evening worship. Estelle Ellis was pianist.

Shine

At yesterday week’s meeting at Brand Court members had skittles, bingo and a raffle. Members recently had an outing to Big Fish Restaurant, Ollerton, and Rufford Park.

Baptist Church

Pastor Sharon Craddock conducted Sunday week’s service. Organist was Cliff Bacon. Paula Skinner and Shirley Dicks led junior church. The church was open for prayer last Monday week and there was carpet bowls at the sports hall. There was Pizza and Praise, on Wednesday, and a prayer lunch, on Thursday week. Bible study was at Shirley Dicks’ home.

TEVERSAL

St Katherine’s Church

Members of Brinsley and District Art Group had a sketching session at the church on Friday week. The bells were rung for Sunday week’s Holy Communion. Associate Priest, the Rev Adrian Dempster, was celebrant and gave a talk called The Spirit Gives Life. Churchwarden John Caunt administered the chalice. Averil Higginson, Gwyneth Allwood and Maureen Dempster gave Bible readings. John Dunn was organist and Eileen Norman and Kathleen Hollis were church stewards.
