Ashfield District Council’s new executive board has been unveiled at the council’s annual general meeting - with Coun Chris Baron set to take over as leader following the announcement last week that John Knight would step down.

Labour Councillors Kier Barsby, David Shaw, Andrew Davidson and Warren Nuttall will join Councillors Chris Baron, John Wilmott on the decision-making body for the council.

Coun Barsby will be in charge of housing, Coun Shaw will take on finance, Coun Davidson will tackle environment, public health and community protection and Coun Nuttall will run regeneration, community wellbeing and corporate services.

Council leader Chris Baron said: “I am extremely pleased to accept the role of leader and to announce the new executive board.

“I am confident in my colleagues and believe this board offers a mix of new blood and fresh ideas alongside well established and experienced councillors that will do their very best for the people of Ashfield.”

Councillor Ken Knight was also thanked for his commitment to the council as chairman as he handed over the official chain to Coun Linford Gibbons.
