WITH the Olympics now well and truly over, athletic nuts can re-light the sporting flame by entering the Mansfield 5k Classic Road Race.
And with the Paralympics just around the corner, competitors can also have their picture taken with former Mansfield Paralympian discus thrower Chris Martin, complete with bronze medal on the day.
He will be starting the race and entrants can also be photographed with torch bearers Steve Grainger and David Denton, who will be there complete with torches.
The 31st August event will be run on a flat and fast three-lap, traffic-free course around the perimeter of Mansfield Woodhouse’s Manor Sports Centre.
Race director Pat Carlan said: “The five-kilometre distance is within the range of most runners’ ability.” The race, which starts at 7.15pm, is open to anyone aged 14 or over. Entry forms can be downloaded from www.mansfield-harriers.org, or you can enter on the night of the event.
