CHAD reporter Catherine Allen will be putting her running shoes on to raise hundreds of pounds for our King’s Mill Hospital MRI Scanner Appeal.
Kind-hearted Catherine, who is a reporter on the Ashfield Chad, will tackle on the gruelling Robin Hood Marathon on 30th September in Nottingham in aid of Chad’s massive £750,000 appeal.
Chad has teamed up with the hospital to launch our bumper fundraising drive to help purchase a state-of-the-art MRI scanner.
The new facility will treat hundreds of thousands of patients over the next seven years and allow the hospital to offer quicker, safer and more detailed diagnosis.
Catherine, who is keen a runner, said: “I have wanted to do a challenge like the Robin Hood Half Marathon for a while and as we have launched our scanner appeal, I thought I could raise money for it.
“I train a couple of times a week but now I’ve actually signed up I think I need to step it up a bit.
“I’m doing a 10km race at Sherwood Pines on 22nd July so that will be good practice.
“I reckon I’ll be a bit nervous when it comes to the half marathon as I have never run that far before - but it’s a great cause so I’’m sure that will keep me going.
“I am doing it with my friend Laura so it will be good fun and I’m sure the atmosphere will be fantastic.
“I’m just trying to persuade a few of my colleagues to do the challenge too.
“My target is £200 so even if people donate a small amount, I think I can reach it.”
