CHAD’S MRI Scanner Appeal has this week smashed the £100,000 landmark after a whopping £25,000 gift from the hospital’s own League of Friends organisation.

The caring charity group, who support King’s Mill Hospital, Millbrook and Mansfield Community Hospital, handed over the bumper cashpot to boost the MRI Appeal coffers last Tuesday following months of fundraising events across the area.

And after making the generous donation, group chairman Barbara Joule vowed that more cash would be on its way next year.

“The League of Hospital support all three hospitals in this area and it is natural that we would raise cash for the MRI appeal,” she said.

“This is a very imnportant appeal, it is vital that King’s Mill Hospital has the best possible equipment and we need to do all we can to offer them our support.

“We are no strangers to raising money to help with the purchase of new medical equipment. We will be raising money in our three charity shops in the coming months so we can make another donation to the MRI appealin the spring.”

The £25,000 boost comes just days after the Amazon Breast Care support ground handed over a £5,000 gift of their own for our life-changing campaign.

The League of Friends currently have three charity shops, with one in Sutton and two in Forest Town, which sells a wide range of goods, including clothing, electrical items, books, children’s toys and other bric-a-brac.

Kind-hearted Barbara, who has been chairman of the League of Friends for 24 years, is now appealing to local folk to continue to dig deep with donations.

“We are very thankful for any donations that come our way,” she said. “Every penny that we raise goes towards purchasing new equipment and is put to good use.

“Fundraising is something I have a real passion for and I love to see the money coming in.

“Raising money is harder for us than it used to be in these tough economic times, but we are doing ok at the moment.

“We are a very professional well organised group and we will continue working hard to raise as much money as we can.”

As part of their ongoing fundraising drive, the League has organised a Christmas Fayre at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex on 7th November and a concert by the award-winning Cantamus Girls Choir at Welbeck Abbey in early December.

The MRI Appeal campaign was launched on 27th June and aims to raise £750,000 to allow King’s Mill Hospital to purchase a state-of-the-art MRI Scanner, which will provide faster, safer and more detailed diagnosis to thousands of patients over the next seven years.

Donations to our MRI appeal can be made by visiting Chad receptions, calling the customer services department at King’s Mill Hospital on 01623 672222, by visiting Sherwood Forest Hospital’s NHS Trust website, through Just Giving or by cheque.

All cheques should be made payable to Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charitable Funds.
