LAST week, we launched Ashfield Chad’s first ever Christmas charity appeal.
In the coming weeks, we will be supporting the Ashfield branch of the charity Home Start, which is based in Sutton.
The charity helps families who are experiencing a range of issues, including isolation, mental or physical health problems, being new to an area, not having friends or family nearby or coping with several children.
In the last year, 93 volunteers helped 109 families with 162 children from across Ashfield.
The practical help given to families across Ashfield is just one of the reasons The Ashfield Chad has chosen to support the charity in the run-up to Christmas.
To make the appeal a success, we will be asking you to donate a small gift suitable for children under five-years-old.
It might be a rattle for a baby or a selection box, book or a toy for a young child. The present does not need to be expensive and you do not need to wrap it, but we do ask that it is new.
After you have bought your present, you can bring it to any of the Chad’s offices on Outram Street in Sutton or Market Place or Newgate Lane in Mansfield.
Once all the presents have been collected, we will take them to Home Start’s Christmas party at Festival Hall in Kirkby on 9th December.
Home Start has helped families from across Ashfield with its home visiting scheme where trained volunteers work with them to stop their problems escalating.
In addition, families can drop into the Home Start offices on Percival Crescent for a coffee and a chat. There is also a washing machine so people can do their laundry if theirs is broken or take a bath if their boiler has broken.
