Scarcliffe Cat Shelter, which has saved thousands of felines, has closed it doors.

Selfless volunteers, Diane Band (63) and Joyce Rippin (71) have taken the decision to retire after almost 30 years.

Diane said: “It feels like my right arm has been cut off - it’s going to be weird, I’ll miss it like hell.”

The shelter grew from one small shed to a purpose-built block of 17 pens. Pictured above is volunteer Joyce Rippin.
