MANSFIELD’S Cantamus girls’ choir impressed audiences in Ireland during a visit to Dublin and Kilkenny.
The tour was arranged by former Cantamus member Hilary Warren-McCaughey and the choir sang hour-long recitals in two cathedrals, St Patrick’s in Dublin and St Canice’s in Kilkenny as well as a full concert in St John’s Church in Dublin.
The choir received a standing ovation each time.
Former Cantamus member Andrea Holmes, who has been living in Dublin for 20 years joined the audiences with her partner on two of the occasions and was reunited with staff.
After studying at the Royal College of Music in London, Andrea had a career with the prestigious D’Oyle Carte Opera Company, but had to give up because of ill-health.
