Enterprising scouts from the East Kirkby group have raised £1,005.73 that will help pay costs for their annual camp, as well as uniforms and equipment.
The group wrote to Sainsbury’s in Mansfield asking if they could take part in a bag pack, where customers had their shopping bagged up in exchange for a donation.
Around 40 children attended the exercise, which took place on Sunday 22nd June, and all were ‘impeccably dressed and behaved’, according to Sainsbury’s Becky Hayes.
She added: “I know the parents of these scouts are brilliant in paying the costs towards camps and other things, but it was great to see them raising money themselves and the sense of achievement they got from that.
“There were older scouts teaming up with younger ones and helping each other out.”
“One of the boys was even stood in the foyer wishing everyone a good afternoon, which was lovely.”
