STAFF at a specialist window firm in Huthwaite are celebrating after being named Company of the Year at a prestigious ceremony in Nottingham.
Synseal Extrusions, based at Common Road, is the largest British-owned manufacturer of PVC-U window systems extruders and the company was recognised for working to combat the decline of traditional markets and making a name for itself in the new-build and commercial property sectors.
The award, which was sponsored by Nottinghamshire County Council and international auditing firm KPMG, was presented at the city’s Council House on Thursday evening.
Chief Executive David Leng, who accepted the accolade, said: “This award has been gained thanks to the efforts of all our staff - they can feel very proud of themselves.
“It is also recognition of manufacturing businesses and those involved in construction, especially those in the window industry, all of which have become unfashionable in recent years.
“The window industry is a vibrant, dynamic sector that is a major employer bringing significant benefits to the UK and its economy and this award is for the industry as a whole as well as Synseal.”
Synseal, which began trading 30 years ago, employs around 500 people and has an annual turnover of more thatn £70million.
The award is now in its 25th year and past winners include Huthwaite firm, North Midland Construction along with Experian, Hilton Building Services and Hardy and Hanson.
