A well known Sutton solicitor retired on 31st January, exactly 50 years to the day since he started in the legal practice.
Tony Slade (70), retired from Fidler & Pepper Solicitors after starting as an articled clerk with them back in February 1962.
Mr Slade, a keen golfer, qualified as a solicitor in 1968 and then went on to buy the practice, along with business partner Tony Lord, from the last of the Pepper family in 1969. Since then he has seen the firm go from strength to strength through its offices in Sutton, Kirkby and Mansfield and more recently through the developments of its online services.
The reins of the firm will be kept firmly in the family as they have been handed over to Tony’s son Mark, who took over as managing partner in 2004. Mark is supported by three partners one of whom is Matt, also Mr Slade’s son.
